Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal’s Wedding: Live Updates – Salman Khan Joins Celebration Amid Tight Security
The highly anticipated day has finally arrived as actors Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal have tied the knot, following years of keeping their relationship private. The couple wed in a civil ceremony at Sonakshi’s residence, attended only by close family and friends. Sonakshi and Zaheer shared their first pictures from the all-white wedding, capturing the intimate and joyous occasion. Later in the evening, the newlyweds hosted a grand reception at Bastian, a celebrity-favorite restaurant in Mumbai, with numerous Bollywood stars in attendance. Sonakshi stunned in a red saree and traditional sindoor, walking hand-in-hand with her husband Zaheer.
Preceding the main celebration, Sonakshi and Zaheer held an indoor party for their inner circle on June 20 and a mehendi ceremony on June 21, both well-attended by close friends and family, including Sonakshi’s parents, Shatrughan and Poonam Sinha. This dispelled earlier rumors suggesting Shatrughan Sinha’s disapproval of the union. The speculation had intensified when Shatrughan mentioned in an interview with Times Now that he was awaiting formal notification about his daughter’s wedding, lamenting that “Nowadays, children don’t seek permission; they simply inform their parents.” However, he later affirmed his support, stating he would indeed attend the wedding, expressing his joy for his daughter’s happiness.
The relationship between Sonakshi and Zaheer had been kept intensely private for years, with the couple avoiding public appearances together. Zaheer, who debuted in the Salman Khan-backed film “Notebook,” reportedly met Sonakshi at a party hosted by Salman, who had also launched Sonakshi’s career with the blockbuster “Dabangg.” Their relationship, however, became more evident after they worked together in the 2022 comedy-drama “Double XL,” co-starring Huma Qureshi. By then, they were already a couple, but it wasn’t until 2023 that they made their first public appearance together at Aayush Sharma and Arpita Khan’s Eid bash. Following this, they began sharing glimpses of their relationship on social media, from heartfelt birthday messages to romantic photos, revealing their affection for each other.
As for the guest list, it remains uncertain which other Bollywood celebrities have been invited to the wedding ceremony itself. Nonetheless, Shatrughan Sinha’s brothers are expected to fly in from America to join the celebrations. Although Salman Khan, a close friend of the couple, has yet to confirm his attendance, his presence at the reception amid tight security hints at his support and happiness for Sonakshi and Zaheer.
