“Rahul Gandhi Visits Home of Hathras Stampede Victim in Aligarh”

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, on Friday, in the aftermath of a tragic stampede at a religious event in Hathras district that claimed the lives of 121 people, predominantly women.

During his visit, Gandhi interacted with the grieving families of the deceased and injured, offering his condolences and assurances of support. He urged the Yogi Adityanath government to increase the compensation for the victims, emphasizing the urgency due to their impoverished backgrounds.

Gandhi’s visit highlighted alleged administrative failures at the event, held by Saakar Vishwa Hari Bhole Baba, a cop-turned-preacher who has since gone missing. An FIR has been filed against the event organizers for mismanagement, with the police reporting that the crowd far exceeded the permitted number, leading to the stampede as people surged towards the preacher’s convoy.

The Uttar Pradesh government has appointed a three-member judicial panel to investigate, while Bhole Baba’s lawyer claimed a conspiracy and refuted the preliminary report’s findings. Gandhi’s visit and subsequent statements have brought significant attention to the tragedy and the need for immediate relief and accountability.
